Because GitHub currently does not include file size or last-modified date in the single-file header UI. It’s simply a design decision, even though there is space in the title bar. To quickly check whether the file is outdated or abandoned (last modification date) and whether it’s worth opening based on its size (file size). |

How do you get useful file info like the modification date or file size? Inconvenient ways like "navigate to the overview (and then jump back)" or "cloning the repo" excluded. Plus, some projects consist only of one markdown file, so they have no project overview.
There's lot's of space in the title bar, why not add the two data points in there?
Why do you want to know those two dates?
I mean, what is Github for? Answer: Ease of access to projects, because you could just use cli
