🚀 GitHub helped students start their journey — please don’t take away the tools that help us learn.
The GitHub Student Developer Pack has always been one of the most respected programs in the developer ecosystem. It gave students access to tools that we normally could not afford and helped thousands of us start our journey in technology.
Models with stronger reasoning were not just productivity tools for us — they were learning companions. They helped us understand complex code, debug difficult problems, explore unfamiliar technologies, and accelerate the learning process while building real projects.
🎓 Students rely on the Student Developer Pack precisely because most of us cannot afford professional subscriptions. When advanced models are removed entirely, the educational value of Copilot decreases significantly for the people who benefit from it the most.
💡 Many students are not asking for unlimited access. Even limited quotas, academic usage caps, or restricted daily access to advanced models would still preserve the learning value while keeping the program sustainable.
🌍 GitHub has always been known for supporting developers and empowering the next generation of builders. Many of today’s engineers started their journey here as students.
🤝 I hope the GitHub team considers the feedback coming from the student community and explores solutions that continue to support students who are learning, building, and contributing to the future of technology.
For many of us, Copilot was never just a tool — it was part of how we learned.
📢 Students who relied on advanced Copilot models for learning — please share your experience or upvote so this feedback can reach the GitHub team.
